I know this is an old thread but the exact same thing happened to me. I'm currently at my ranch. Out in our wooded area. Keys are locked in the car. I have simple
Hand tools with me. I'm 150 miles from any town or locksmith. Been calling but no one will service this area. If there is a way to get into the back door without damage please send me the information. In going to PM a mod but if anyone has any insight please email me [email protected] |

I know the procedure (certain European BMW Dealers know this) and learned from the Swiss TCS (similar to the RAC in UK or AAA in the US). As this is something that will allow someone to get into an X5, it's not widely disseminated for obvious reasons.

A word to the wise that may be reading this post. If you only have one key at the moment for your X5 just do yourself a favor and order another key (spare) to avoid the embarrassment of locking your keys in the vehicle.

Oh that for sure is my plan. Unfortunately I didn't act soon enough. Hopefully I can get into the car and take it right to the dealer. If someone could PM me some tips that would be amazing. Thank you again in advance. I definitely learned my lesson this time around! |

I'd like to hear any tips as well. I'm going to try the battery (jump box in my case) on the starter later this morning. Hopefully I'll have some success.

Please let me know if that works. Great news for me is that my jumper box is in the locked car

I don't understand why people don't buy a spare key (w/o remote feature) for $50.
