Yesterday on my way home from a trip to the south, I spent the whole time playing around with a little cute peugot 307 whenever the poor guy wants to pass on 120km/h I floor it and he floors it... i nicely see him slowly shrinking in the mirror until i reach 170-180km/h... then i slow down and floor it again... donnu why i was so tempted to exercise my abuse on this little fellow lol

Then a mercedes C320 came like a crazy bat from behind, and passed me... I tried to catch up with him, but on the 4th gear at 130km/h i had hard time... i think he was pulling more...just a little... However, when traffic slowed down, we were next to each other rolling 100-110km/h... i was so damn happy and waiting to clear the truck that was causing the slow traffic, because i knew that my third gear will launch me like a rocket and that's what happened! when the road opened up, we floored them, and my third gear was amazing at launching me to 135 in no time and the 4th gear took it from there with the MB few lenghts behind me! ps: I have a 3.0

All the extra torque can be nice for everyday driving. Plus, no regular 3-series has ever been as close to the M version as far as performance is concerned. For what it is, the 335i really is a beast.

I love the e46 as much as anyone, but I will have to admit that the e92 has grown on me to the point where I am starting to see the e46 as a classic design, but just a smidge dated. Especially if you look at how clean the front and rear bumpers look on an e92. I have a feeling that a lot of e46 lovers will take to the e92 as it ages. It really is a beautiful car, IMO. Especially with the CSL wheels.

So yesterday, I was driving my parents' minivan... then a 335i pulls up next to me. I KNEW I could take him. So I gun it at the light... but it doesn't make sense... our minivan has VTEC... it should have taken the 335, right?

15" rims are 20's to a smart car...

Glad to see FSETH, JCL, and the rest "bitch-slap" the X5 vs. 335 pretenders.
And to the guy who claims to have taken a Nissan 350Z: yeah, hello...the Nissan fella wasn't even trying...if he gunned it, you would've had your a$$ handed to you on a silver platter.

The whole point of an X5 V8 (a 4.4, 4.6, or 4.8) is to have a very fast SUV that gives you the best of all worlds: solid performance, nice handling, and utility/cargo space/4wd. It does all of these things very well, without excelling in any one of them. Thus it is faster than 90% of SUVs on the market, especially if modded with exhausts, intakes, etc. But please stop pretending that you can compete with a 335i, an Infiniti G37S, or even a Nissan 350Z. They will ALL leave you embarassed and wishing you did not challenge them. The ultimate cure for our 'SUV' blues will be when the X5///M and X6///M hits the dealers. And even then, you will need to pick your battles carefully: all non-SUV Porsches from the Carrera upwards will smoke you, and don't be picking races with any Vettes or Audi R8s.

LIONEL: I was on my way from Saida to Beirut... luckily, no radars my friend in the morning of the same day had a ticket

About X5 racing sports cars, like stanf18 said: We have the best of all worlds, but we cannot beat the specialists in each world.
I mean for god sake, we are comparing our SAV to Sports cars, then we compare it to off-road cars, then we compare it to luxury cars!!! Can't you see it's the same car? It's not fair! Of course a Hummer will beat us off-road, of course a Z350 will beat us in speed, and of course Jaguar or rolls royce will beat us in luxury.... but is there any other car than the X5 that is able to even make us think of the above all three together?? now THAT's what makes the X5 an exceptional machine...

Last night I raced a Target security guard on his Segway---beat him by at least 8.5 car lengths.
