ok i did wat wayne told me & i cleaned the MAF sensor really good and put it back on.. i took it back to autozone & told them to clear it for me ( even tho they said theyre not supouse too) but they did it anyhow... now the SES is gone drove it home and didnt come back on.. by the way weasel the code i got when i went back was P-1161.. what could that be

This is a code specific to BMW. I do not know how autozone could have deduced that it was the MAF for sure as the code description for this says "FUEL TRIM ADAPTION ADDITIVE BANK 2 HIGH". It sounds like the computer was not able to regulate the amount of fuel and air appropriately. The origin of the problem could be different things like dirty fuel filter or fuel injectors or a bad o2 sensor or could indeed be the MAF. Since you cleaned the MAF and cleared the code I would wait and see if the code comes back. It may take 50 or 100miles to come back. If it comes back I would try to clean the injection system with a good cleaner.
