Is lurching year specific or it is for all X5's ??/

Anybody with the brand new X5 2009-2010 that has issue with lurching???

For what it's worth my X hasn't missed a beat re idle revs whether coming back from a quick drive to the corner shops or a 1 hr cruise up the motorway. Very happy with that aspect of my X.

The downshifting is another story, which in my case is rather abrupt and in particular when rolling down a hill at or around 70kmh (40+mph). Discussed in detail by many recently and in the past, 'Search' will confirm this.

Thanks X Foomph. I have searched the forum back and forth and there is another mixed thread of mine on the topic. I am just trying to determine whether it is the reality or just a brainwash, because as I said with all that jerking chances are you will change transmission sooner than you would otherwise.

Sounds like you're having more than just a rough idle problem. I have an 06 4.4i and I am not experiencing any of these shaking symptoms. I would keep bugging the dealer and have their most experienced X5 technician take a look. In the meantime, try turning off the DSC and see if that makes the problem better or worse. You'll know it is off when the yellow "4x4" light illuminates on the dash.

StanF18 thank you for your reply. I have put in the system cleaner into the system and will give it a shot first, will also change air filter as a precaution, that is as far as shaking is concerned and I do notice some difference.
I didn't play with the DSC off yet, but I have tried to turn AC off when car is shaking and it seem to have an effect, it actually stops shaking. Any idea why?

As to the lurching I have showed the car to a person that has had and is still driving BMWs. He said that he has similar thing on his BMWs, not X5 though, and it is LESS pronounced, but it is "probably" ok for X5.

And please don't get me wrong I absolutely love the way the car is on the road. I just want to make sure that anything that is not ok is fixed and moved out of the way.
