2 payments remaing on lease. What

would you guys do?

My 2006 X5 4.4 drives and looks like new and I would like to own it.

A nearby dealer quoted $31K and change but the two remaining lease payments are included in that price.(not CPO and market rate financing)
The price is based on current auction results and is good for 5 days.

Even though his offer is $3.5K under the residual does this sound high?

Another dealer wants a end of lease inspection and will not quote a price over the phone.

To get a feel for the market I checked Autotrader....just a few 4.4s with 28Kmi., in the entire US.

Most of those have options like NAV, Premium Sound, Sport and are priced in the 34K to $36K range.

I have the cold weather, heated steering wheel and the premium package options. The original window sticker was $57K.

Is it best to wait until Oct when 2010s will be in their showrooms?

Tough one............the lure of a 2010 would be hard to resist but your current is only 3 years old and you'll be finance free, personally i'd prefer to keep the 06 and be debt free.

I really need to move back to the states.......a 2006 4.4 in Australia is selling for about $65-75k......

Now that would be a bargin or a 10K + profit for the dealer if I accepted his offer.

Do you mind sharing the source?

Tags I would be financing part of the balance.

The build date on this X5 is Nov. of 2005...in dealers inventory for almost a year. It had 400mi on the clock when I took delivery.

The price of a new X5 is out of sight IMO. Maybe they could offer a screaming deal on a 2009 leftover but I am not counting on that.

that is strange, there are 2 with about 28K in the northwest on cars.com. selling for about $32K.

but really, low miles don't matter, all you need is a couple months on warranty still to get the customer to feel good about buying the car. after warranty has expired, they will be gun shy.

as well, these things run forever. low miles doesn't really help the price too much. if it is in great shape and you don't need any of the improvements that the 370 offers, why buy a newer one? it will only depreciate rapidly and you will lose more cash. plus you will have a car you don't really know the history of. I would stick with what you have.

i doubt wholesale is $20K. Maybe $24-25. unless someone can show you a couple of real examples, it just isn't true...

My friends I am sad to say good bye.

BMW financial would not change the $34K+ residual.

Two dealers offered to sell me my leased X5 for $31K but since the X was soon due for new tires...this is still too high IMO.

Both dealers explaned that the rock bottom pricing, during the March April months, was the lowest that they experienced in many years. Wholesale pricing is now $5 to $6K higher on avearge.

Neither dealer had a 2006 4.4 in inventory so they wanted my car returned...and I let one of them have it.

Moved on to a Porsche Cayenne...purchased a like new 2003 S with 40Kmi for 21K. More in line with my budget in this economy.

Rick

Your dealer will eat their words and their car with that $34K + residual pricing. Wholesale of that car is $20K max. Are you talking about Fairfax or Sterling? or Arlington?

Let the car go $31,000 is way too high. If you like your current model year look up some prices and you may find one with more options and even lower miles

NOVA that 31K offer was made by BMW Sterling, VOB Rockville and the dealer that has the car, Towson BMW in MD.

The strange part...I turned in the X5 late in the day on a Friday and there was not one customer anywhere.

The showroom and lot is full of cars but no buyers or tire kickers in sight.

Could it be that the only thing selling are used X's.
