Sorry, I fixed my post. Fat fingers on a 2" keyboard Replacing the stock resonator w/ an x-pipe is fine, just no straight pipes and don't change the pipe sizing as it'll create turbulance. I believe the stock exhaust is 2.25".

Thanks for the info. I am going to get an estimate on replacing my bullet resonators with an x-pipe on Monday. A standard Magnaflow x-pipe is 83 bucks and it can't be a ton to install it. If it's under 250 I'll do it.

I know it depends on the area, but when I had my x-pipe and both mufflers installed, I got it all installed for like $200. My mufflers I got for $112 a piece and the x-pipe was around $70. Either way, you should easily be under $250 for parts and labor.

I had my Magnaflow x-pipe installed a week ago at the local Meineke muffler. Total was $112 to remove resonator and install the X pipe. They needed a few inches of piping on either side to keep the x in the middle of where the resonator was. FYI, I used the 2.25" X pipe and it was a good fit.

Did it change the sound much? I was thinking about an Eisemann race catback too, but I was thinking it could be too loud. I want something with just a little more growl.

I thought it would significantly boost the noise level, but it didn't. At idle there's only the slightest difference from before the x-pipe (keeping in mind I've got a Supersprint exhaust). Still rather humble at idle. However, I did notice a decent increase in noise at WOT. Still not as loud as other "American Muscle" type V8's, but it does grab your attention:-) I don't have any sound clips of my X5, but there's plenty in the "Articles" section that sound similar. Hope this helps!
