Tax time you ready yet my friend? I think you need some new tires for the summer months! And do you use Open Road or DCH on Freehold? I had used DCH for years and like them a lot. Let me know if you need a tip on a SA in Freehold. I bought them pizza and it makes a world of difference! Sorry to Hijack! |

From talking with folks here and on E46, the pump is the part that is almost always the first to go..and its one piece. You should also replace the screen which is another 2 bucks.

Hope all is well and keep in touch, as I said before, your X5 will need tires at some point! Good luck with the folks at Open Road and let me know if you ever want to try DCH in Freehold. I'll be hitting the dealer for the warranty repair of our rear wiper fluid soon, wish me luck! |

I am having the same problem but I can fill mine and it will sit for 2 days an not lose a drop, then drive about 1 mile and the tank is empty. It is at the dealer at this time and has been since Feb. 12,and they can not find where the water is going. At this time I am not a happy camper.

I hope this is not the case or your car is still under warranty.
I had the same problem for our X3. Filled the whole thing to only have the fluid gone within a week wthout using any and no evidence of leaking on the ground etc. Here's what I found out: The normally competent engineers did a stupid thing on the X3s. The connection line that runs fluid to the rear window is routed thru the center console of the car. The connection in this line tends to Fail. The fluid may be leaking onto your carpet. I got our problem covered as a Goodwill repair as we were 4,000 miles past warranty. Otherwise, it's like $1,000 repair of which like 95% is labor. Basically, the proper repair is to Remove all the seats, remove the wood trim at the gear shift, inspect all of the associated wiring for damage, remove the carpet and padding, let them dry out for a few days and treat for mold (lysol) if needed. Dealers have a repair kit for the break in the line, I think it's basically Glue. Please report back on your findings. |

I have a 2001 X5. There was a puddle of washer fluid on the garage floor under the right front tire. The leak turned out to be coming from the strainer at the rear of windshield cleaning container, Part # 61-66-7-006-063. The pump was fine.
I also replaced the front strainer at the same time, even though it wasn't leaking, part #61-67-8-374-382. Thanks for all the info. |

Mine just started leaking too... Steady drip from an undetermined source around the reservior. Hoping it is #3 in fudge's diagram.
Time to look more closely at it this upcoming weekend. I'm just glad that the blue fluid under the X5 wasn't coolant this time!
