Try using "dynomat" or other sound attenuating material on the backside of the cover. This will dampen out vibrations and help reduce rattles.

I drilled about 30 1/4" holes through the oem sub cover in a cricular pattern to help airflow that is being trapped. Got rid of 75% of the rattles and you cant see the holes as the oem carpet covers most of them with the smaller holes.

So you stalked me and replied to a 1yr old thread (probably before you were even a member here)...just so you could call me a troll? I dont know if I should be flattered while I'm busy laughing.

OBVIOUSLY it would take more than what i listed or even the things you listed...it goes w/o saying. Hardware is the easy part, I know plenty of people (myself included) who could fabricate and get it mounted, but at the end of the day it will run like ass w/o software. Hell, even w/ the mild mods my engine has, I randomly get CEL lights and I have no bottom end power...even I need software.

Back on topic...when I get home i'll post a pic and eBay link for the mesh grill I installed, cost me around $12, works perfectly and isnt hugely noticeable.

Some D bag who got all P hurt when I elaborated why his prior subwoofer setup idea would basically be a complete waste of money for no real gains and he'd be far better off just buying one of allstard's boxes...or at least thats how I remember it. He's been on me and trying to take shots ever since, clearly w/o success. He even PM'ed me one time, threatening to have me banned, telling me his measurements in detail (as if I wanted to date him) and tried to elude to causing me physical harm. I pasted his very laughable PM into my sig for a while, but I resorted back since I figured he'd let go...I was wrong. Ironically, everything I said to him was for his benefit (which he eventually followed), but still holds the grudge since i didnt line it w/ pink frosting. Can't please everyone...

Well i'l try and get some pics up but i went with the elemental box.. and unless i dont have the box installed right if i closed the cover the excursion of the woofer hit the cover. which sounded like crap.. So i went crazy and hacked the cover apart.. lets just say no saw but a hot soldering\engraving iron.. worst part im not done... but the non circle i have so far with the jl grill on the ED speakers is letting the sound out nice and clean again. no more cover rattle and woofer excursion. So as the other posters mentioned either drill it or take a router or jigsaw to it.. just be careful i wasnt.. now im looking for a parted out x with that cover. Pics tommorow..I want to paint the jl grill the same color as the factory grills.. the factory bright tan anyone know the best paint from cough autozone ya know comparabe color.. lol dont pay attention to the date the camera was about to die so I skipped the date setup.

This is how I covered my subwoofer - 10" DJ Car Speaker Steel Mesh 2 Piece Woofer Grill New - eBay (item 380315464552 end time Mar-11-11 15:34:33 PST) I used 1" drywall screws to attach the ring (which I had to dremel wheel to a shorter length), but something like 1/2" or 1/4" would probably work fine. Pop the cover on and it's done.

I also sprayed rattle-can type sound deading material on all the bare metal inside the enclosure area before installing the box.
