Its true, i have legal tints in NYC but 1 cop apparently thought it was too dark (No light around the car makes the tint look DARKER, makes sense...) and he took his little tool and measured my windows and came out to be 16%(you can test 0% if you take a clear glass and go to a dark room and measure it) told me to take off my tints or i will get a ticket, and now i am just waiting for my court date to fight this Bull. so stay legal if you don't want to get hassled, and 35% is what i have and i like it.

I have a black with beige int. I have 5% all around and 35% on the entire front windshield. Challenging to see at night backing up but oh well, I like my privacy. I have a prescription from a Doc he he he which allows me to run that dark. Oh and no they do not remove factory tint before they retint. Cant take the tint off factory, its inside the glass to my knowledge. Enjoy

Now both front and rear match perfectly. Visibility out the side and rear windows are poor at night.

It looks great. Tint makes a huge positive difference to the appearance of the vehicle!

WOW

That looks really good. But doesn't the police notice?

Is their really a big diffence between 35% and 30% tint?

^^+1

I had 20% on the front windows of a previous car and it was hard to see out of at night when no street lights were present. Also, very difficult to see out of when raining. I have not put 20% on any of my cars since.

35% should do the trick and keep you under the radar of the getting pulled over. I have 35% all around on several of my cars and no problems with the po po.

I did 20% over the factory tint and 20% over the regular door glass. Its very dark at night but it came out good.

FYI - The stock tinted glass is 38% We measured it with a tint meter.

Any trouble with the police up in NY?

I've also found that a dark interior (i.e. black leather) will make 35% tint look much darker than it really is. Makes sense...less light being reflected back. I have 35% all around on my Merc with black leather and it looks almost like 20%.

Something else to consider when selecting tint %.

I have driven two vehicles with the same level of tint in the past 3 years and I have not recieved a single ticket. KNOCK ON WOOD!

On the flip side my brother got 3 tint tickets in 1 month and then finally removed the tint from the front of his car.

The police have different moods in Alberta.

I think usually tint tickets in my city are usually given out in combination with other tickets like speeding tickets etc.

13% all the way around. You can still see out of the back ... yes it is a LITTLE hard to see at night backing up but you get used to it. This is on top of the factory privacy glass
