Disable Auto-Lock When Driving?

Having trouble with my doors auto locking at the beginning of a drive, and NOT auto-unlocking when the car is turned off.

When I first got this '01 X5 3.0i 5 spd manual SAV I assumed that the central locking system was designed to auto-lock all the doors (as mine does) when the vehicle first begins a drive through around 10 MPH. As I'm researching how to disable this feature, I can't find any reference in the owners manual or the Bentley manual that it is supposed to do this.

I don't have any use for this feature and would like to disable it.

Additionally, I also assume that since the central locking system auto-locks my doors just after the beginning of the first roll . . . then it should also auto-UNLOCK all the doors at some point . . . perhaps when the driver's door is opened, or when the ignition is turned off. Mine does NOT do this!!

Thus I have to press the center pedestal central locking switch (or double pull each required door handle) EVERY time I want to get out of the vehicle after driving.

Searched for a thread on this subject and didn't find one. Any ideas?
