.....range rover sport super charged would be tempting indeed....scared of getting a cayenne because of Porsche servicing costs. Anyone had a cayenne for awhile who wouldn't mind sharing running costs?

Back when my parents bought our X5 in 2002, we probably would've went with a MB ML320. With our new X5 diesel, we probably wouldn't have bought one at all if it wasn't for the $4500 cash back.

1) Cayenne Turbo
2) Infiniti FX 50 V8
3) Mercedes GL550

(Range Rover Sport Supercharged looks excellent, but I want something that spends more time on the road than in the shop)

The service issues are what kept me from a Range Rover, it also didn't drive anywhere near as well as the X5. Certainly cushy, but detached and not sporting at all.

2003-2005 Toyota Land Cruiser 24/7/365 (the Cayenne, Land Rover, Audi, etc, etc will cost you a fortune, and be in for repair most of the time while not being able to do what an SUV is supposed to do [exception of the Land Rover] - unless you are on pavement where a good AWD can do just as well). There is no competition. "Performance" SUV/SAV's are not a wise choice in most cases when you can buy a Land Cruiser and a 540i/6 (or older 911) and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Cayenne since it's as sporty as an x5. If not cayenne then Trailblazer SS or cherokee SRT8

This is a very interesting thread. Most people here would have gotten a Cayenne..

Porsche should really see this, they are losing a lot of potential sales!
