1- Porsche Cayenne Turbo (Interior really doesn't do it for me, but the look and performance almost makes up for it.)
2- BMW 5-Series (Non SAV, but once you drive a BMW, its hard to enjoy anything else.)
3- Acura RDX (with sound deadening material added throughout the whole car)
4- Audi Q7 (Its not as unreliable as some may say, looks mean, and drives plush)

Well Range Rover would likely be just as popular a vote if they didn't have so many issues both short and long term. Their maintenance costs are high and they're not all that comfortable, which can really kill the enjoyment of owning one.

I admit, my old Range Rover 4.6 HSE kills my X5 3.0i when it comes to power and acceleration. But I still enjoy owning and driving my X way more than the RR. Thats for sure.

well is that back when BMW owned RR. how come they werent able to transfer their reliability to that company. I mean isnt that 4.6 HSE engine very similar to that in the 02-03 X5 4.6is? (thanks Member janix for the picture)

Probably a Ford Explorer.

Doesn't handle near the BMW, but it's quite comfortable and much more reliable than most BMWs. And what it trade off in road handling, it makes up in having some actual off-road ability.

None. Probably an e46 or e39. Didn't want an SUV, but the wife insisted. Tried to talk her into an e46 330i.

I'd probably still have my E36 325is coupe w/manual for daily driving and would have kept either the '69 F250 or the '89 ford bronco for the other hauling needs.

69 F250 was the first and best vehicle I ever had for reliability, literally $0 maintenance costs over 8 years other than basic oil changes... and I was really rough with it. (Oh wait, I spent $2.50 for new points once)

The bronco was comperable in size, power and utility to the 4.6is, but with big mud tires and full selectable transfer case... great off roader. As fast in a straight line as the 4.6is (modded) and was surprising in the turns. (sway bars/big tires) But due to excessive flogging requires regular upkeep. (also comperable to the BMW )

I took a look at the Cayenne S and Turbo before buying my 4.6is. They were nice, but I preferred the BMW driving feel and ride and the X5 has a nicer interior than the S. Although the fully optioned Turbo was nicer than my old E39 M5 with the full leather. The potential repair costs outside of warr was the main thing that kept me away from the Turbo.
