Look at the feedback on that ebay seller. They're selling mostly clothing and accessories, so I highly doubt they all the sudden decided to start selling head units. It has to be fake. If the real one materializes, I'll be happy. The ebay one also doesn't sound like the info lines up. It's like they added info from a normal head unit to the end of the ad.

The whole thing could be a sham, but I'm hopeful and in for finding out.

Here it is on their site, same price as ebay. It sounds amazing, but from the latest photos (not artist's rendering) on the other thread it looks like they made the button labels with a stencil set (kinda chintzy looking).

Why is it odd, because you are getting completely different responses from different bozos about the same product?

I contacted them as well. X5 is done and being sold. They just happen to be out of stock of them right now. However the E46 can ship today. So I asked for a manual. Suddenly got no reply. Nice.

And since everyone else seems to be attaching photos that are sexually exciting to the masses, here's another one for you to drool over. Whoever picks the right one that fits the X5 wins a cigar (and a kick in the head)! And in case you are wondering, the antenna attaches like this...lick the suction cup at the base and slam it against your forehead (in case you haven't already for plunking down $600 for this monstrosity), but please don't forget to unstick it before you exit the car.

Don't worry, I definitely won't be the one jumping on this. Wasn't paying enough attention to see they were different units. Didn't realize there was more than one in development. Why is the right side of that one blurred out? To hide the identity of the "famous maker"?

Who knows. I just don't want any one person getting burned, much less an entire group buy.

Even if it does turn out to be legit. Quite frankly it looks like it belongs on Geo Metro. I'd rather have an out of date setup in my X5 that looks right, than have what looks like a kids toy as the center of a $60,000+ car.

I have to disagree, partly. Based on the picture in Meister's post a couple up, the physical unit doesn't look to bad. It looks more VW/Audi, than BMW, that's my main concern.

Now, the GUI...I agree 100%...childish, at best.

There is a bit of a difference between the one with the attached photo on the post and the real one shown on the website. If you look at the other car models they have listed, take a simple look at the "Rendered/art" version of the navigation and then look at the navigation they ended up created in real life, the one that is for instants, suzuki you see the SAME THING. Take a look:

ART:

Real Life:

They look almost identical. Now compare that to the one on the BMWs they have and then to the one posted on the attached photo. I can't believe the attached photo is indeed the navigation on the site.

We have await and see until the end of April and see what they come up with the real pictures.

Just my 2 cents on this matter...

Alright...if anyone of these models works without any hitches I'm TOTALLY in for a group buy!

Please keep us posted.

Cheers,
Mark

Not too completely throw this thread for a loop but a company called Dynavin is creating a head unit for the E39 that should fit the E53.

dynavin

Notice that it does look much more like it belongs in a BMW compared to the others.
