Hi Cat -

Just checking in to see how WD has treated you. You made out like a bandit if they said yes to everything at DEALER Book Rate, no inspector, etc.

just got the X back and first let me say wow. the worn suspension bits being replaced makes it drive like new. I can also tell something was done to the trans. It is very responsive now when I go to take of from a stop or to pass. everything was replaced at a cost to me of $63.00. Total was 1966.40, 1387.50 in labor, and 527.47 in parts. so far I am very happy with WD another 1100 in work over the next 2 years and I break even.

U made out very well. I've had 2 claims with WD. Claim 1 was smooth. Claim 2 they gave the dealership hell, the dealer would not budge on book rate, so I ate some on the labor.

At the cost of new door carriers, I'd figure I'd let INDY deal with it..WD is scheduling a adjuster to confirm the issues. We'll see how it plays out.

Interesting thread and quite useful. For all those that bought WD warranties, any reason why you decided on WD over Fidelity (or someone else)?

Have had a WD 'Luxury Car' policy for almost a year. It covered my auto transmission failure with me paying only £50 as my deductible. Policy cost is just over £500 per year ($750USD) but has already paid for itself 4x over as the tranny rebuild was £2200 ($3340).

BMW GB never offered me any extended cover, but on my wife's E46 330CD Conv they quoted more than £850 ($1200) for one year and it only covered 'major' items. Her WD policy is around £400 pa.

I do agree that it's all in the presentation to them....as well as it needs to be somethign clearly defined as they use the alldata to calculate repair time.

1st time was a hot blistering 90+ day. Waterpump went south and it took 5+ hrs for a tow...They covered the tow, waterpump, and some very minor odds and ends. Hassle free, approved it with the dealer with no issues.

2n time was valley pan. During this phase, we did the VCG as well, CCV hoses, some oring, some gaskets in the rear, etc while the top was getting gutted for access. All in all, I think I spent out of pocket around $500 on what was supposed to be $100 deductible but it was due time to deal with all those issues.

Round 3 - Dropped her off at the Indy as I did not want to pay OOP for new carriers..
They are sending a adjuster out to inspect and advise accordingly. I suppose it could be due to our newer economy and to scrutinize what should be covered under the policy as I read the policy thoroughly to confirm it was not a exclusion.

Final Experience with Warranty Direct.
I purchased the warranty knowing I would be keeping the X for 3 years past it's prime. As well, it was purchased primarily on the sole intent of keeping me covered in the event of a transmission failure. Granted, I did preventative maint. and have changed fluids across the board quite regularly...

The long and short of it. With just a smigen of a couple days left on my extended warranty with them, they have paid 280% of the policy itself. The next owner is set with a extremely well maintained car that I personally would not have put $$ into had it not have been for the policy covering stated ~failures~.....
