Not yet

I don't know if, or how much that impacts the value of the car... I was going to wire the money in the morning.

I need to buy one this week, I cant stand driving this government motors tahoe. The seats are worse than a lazy boy!

It definitely de-values the vehicle. Its been in a wreck that the insurance company decided was large enough in dollar value (or in liability) to total out the vehicle. Not only is the car worth less, some insurance companies won't even insure a salvaged titled vehicle. I'd walk from that deal really quick.....you're also buying a used vehicle sight unseen????

Agree 100% with NS. Do you know if your insurance company will insure it? If you think your Tahoe seats are a pain in the ass, wait till you try fixing all the stuff on this car paying out of pocket. And to buy it sight unseen is probably not a wise move either.

Man....I would not have gone the route you're going.
No. 1 - If I were living out of California I would not buy a used X5 in California. When I was looking everything in other states outside California were less expensive.

No. 2 - Why would you pay for it without either seeing it, or having your friend look at it first? Even if it is a third party, why rush a $25k purchase. You're assuming all the risk, and the buyer is not at risk of losing anything.

Just walk away and keep looking.

I'd try to get out of the deal. For insurance to total a '06 X5, there had to be some pretty serious damage. I'm guessing at least $20k which is a lot and not just for airbag deployment. If you still want to buy it, find out EXACTLY was damaged and replaced and then decide if you are still willing to purchase it. You NEED to get a PPI and prior to purchase. Good Luck with your decision/purchase.

I purchased mine in January in MO. It also has a salvage title. I was about to walk away till I asked to see the history. Turns out it was simply a lemon law buy back from California. California laws force manufacturers to buy back cars for the smallest thing! mine had a window actuator go out twice and California said buy back. Don't know why salvage title in MO but there is nothing in the history as far as wrecks or flood damage.
Within the first month I replaced the tires, brakes, oil, spark plugs, and all filters. Put in one treatment of injector cleaner (BMW) and have only had 91or 93 Octane fuel in her tank.
Working like a charm..... Need the links replaced now tough :-)

Judging from the pictures, and the description, I would say it was a front collision on the driver side, the driver side door seems to not fit correctly as well as the sligth different color than the rest of the car. Notice how the seller did not post pictures from the rear looking towards the front the way they did for the passenger side. I would say there is frame damage and hence the salvage title. I think if you keep searching you would find one with a better price...especially in Wisconsin.

2 actuators failing would not result in a lemon law. No way, no chance, no how.

I would stay far far away from a salvage title, nothing but bad luck. You will have a very hard time selling it down the road also
