I wouldn't be surprised it the BMW stuff is P21s. They make a few things that Mercedes just stamps their own label on. The BMW shampoo smells just like the P21s stuff as well, has the exact same consistency too. They claim to be the supplier of these types of products for multiple German car makers. I am using 4 of their different products and have had great luck with them so far. Its only been a year since I discovered them though.

I'll admit that I used the BMW approved clear stuff. It increases the resale value of the X5

A better form of rain-x. It's also made by the same company that makes the windshield on the E53.

My wipers last about 5 years because I never use them, one more tool to keep me from using them

It's safe to use on all the windows however you'll get the best results on the front windshield. BMW even sells it. Here's also a great write-up of it:
