Thanks for that but unfortunately it only shows how the screen is constructed not how to remove it from the header unit for replacement.

Cheers

Thank you for that. Its a great document. The only question I have is that if my backlight for the screen does not seem to be working anymore where I can clearly see all normal GPS, radio, Tv functions are fine, is it possible to just replace the backlight/bulb?

The red/orange displays, like the non-nav radio in the e53, have back light bulbs. The nav display does not. The displays just become dimmer over time. After taking it apart, I can tell you that there is only a thin LCD screen. If you need a better picture, you have to replace the entire screen.

Regarding the proper part number for the nav screen replacement:

When I disassembled my unit (2005 4.8is, Jan build), the part number on the original screen was: LQ065T9BR51U and is shown in photo below.

I specifically requested this part when I ordered it from Eurotech/Cinderella.

The replacement part has no LQ type model number on it. It worked well for me (2nd picture below). After four months of use, my only complaint is that the screen absorbs many cleaners, leaving a semi-reflective film that is a problem in bright sunlight. Windex removes the film and returns the screen clarity.

My screen got dead pixels and now it went blank. Will replacing the screen fix it? One of our member (chas3) mentioned the backlight inverter for the gone blank screen problem, so I really need to know if the new screen includes the back light inverter or I have to purchase it separelly.

Thanks,
Michael

The backlight, well.. it lights the LCD. An LCD matrix only produces colors; without the backlight, the screen is barely visible under sun light and it looks like it's blank at night. The point is: the backlight is the culprit only if your display looks blank and you have to get very close to actually see anything on it.

Yes, a new LCD should come with the backlight around it.
