Check with the guy who does the replacements (it's written up in a thread) and ask him if he knows the difference between the various models.

Well folks, I just got the 53U from China, installed it (messed up on the ribbon cable and took hours to correct), and came out with the final two results:

1. The new screen has 1 dead pixel.

2. The viewing angle is wrong on the 53U for the X5. I am so frustrated that words do not describe it.

Excellent info. I'll update the info in thread post #26 and #28.

Sorry that it didn't work for you though. What is your plan B? Are you going to try out another panel?

Dunno if they sent me the wrong part number, I was in a rush and did not check. However, the part number on the factory screen is LQ065T9BR51. I think that I'm going to order an advance replacement 51, swap it out and see. It's possible that they sent me the wrong one in haste, but I doubt it.

BTW, anyone that wants a screen replacement done, PM me. I think I'm gonna start doing it.

Interesting. From what I have seen there is a "BR51U" but I haven't seen info on a "BR51". Will you be able to get the BR51?

No clue. All I know is that's the part number on the screen.

Have you tried speaking with the guy on ebay who does this stuff? (He's a former Alpine engineer)

Nope, no idea that there was a guy on ebay who did it. Now that I know about the ribbon cable plugs, it's super-easy.
