315s after 20k miles
Is this what you get after 30000 km on 315? The fronts look very good though and the outer side was like new. I just came back from a trip (600km) with the tires flipped, the inner side was gone and the dealer was asking $700 for a tire. So I order the pair online when I got back. I just got a new alignment but the old one was good too... is this normal?

Unfortunately what you are seeing is not unusual. The amount of negative camber is the cause. My 285 Yokohama Advans were about as bad with approximately the same mileage. Misery loves company so do a search for the topic and you will find other examples and some solutions.

Had same wear on my old Mich 285's. Suspension setup and the negative camber are the culprits. The wider the tyre the worse it gets, don't see it on the standard 17" though. It is a typical BMW style over practicality of over size tyres for the sake of appearance.
Either down size or keep putting hand in wallet

Might be time to replace some bushings in the rear. If the toe is off it will wear the inside quicker.

The dealer checked the bushing and didn't mentioned that they need to be replaced. I asked them to make sure the alignment is done right based on the tire wear. They saw the tires. I read a few threads about this problem and I remember somebody mentioned that they got 40k mi with an even wear. Another one mentioned that a bavauto camber kit couldn't hold the alignment for more than 10-20 or 100 miles. I guess I can do either, get a camber kit or flip the tire on the rim every 10000km and this way I can get more out of them. How many miles do you get on yours? ![]() |

You also have to take into consideration that your Diamaris are summer tires and the Toyos I had were all seasons with a treadware rating of nearly double Diamaris. Plus, yours are wider. I wouldn't expect you to get 40k on one set of rears. Here is the rear alignment info from when those Toyo's were installed. As you can see, my X didn't really need to be aligned at the rear. Prior to this alignment, neither of the fronts were in spec like the rears were, so I guess I got something for my money.

I have about 15K on a set of the Yoko's and they look to me like they will make it to 25K maybe 30K. Wear is even so far, from what I can tell. 4.6is with stock wheels so rears are 315's. I run 265-50-19 Pirelli Scorpion Ice tires in the winter for ski season and the rainy season here which is about 4 months of the year - December through March.

Wow I never realized it is that bad! Good to know as that might sway me from upgrading to larger staggered wheels/tires. Thanks for the pics.
