Rotors.... for 4.8is with hawk Pads??

Just so I don't have to search all through this forum, can anyone reccomend a good rotor for Hawk Brake Pads? I have a 2005 4.8is and this is for the front, replacing myself.

Thanks

Michael

Original Equipment, from the dealer or a mail-order supplier.

It doesn't matter, aren't all rotors pretty much the same... I guess whatever is cheapest... I found some zimmermans for 204 for two fronts... i'm sure there is cheaper out there....

Any thoughts?

No, they are not all the same. There are differences in quality just like with anything else. Go with OE if you can't personally tell the difference.

I put Centric Premium rotors on the front of my 4.8 and they work great. Paid about $150 per rotor. If you get them delivered, make sure to check them carefully for shipping damage to the edges as they are really heavy and tend to get dropped by the UPS guy.

I have Centric as well on both my 4.4i and e36 and have been very happy with them.

I've never used the C-Tek rotors, but I did look at Centric's info on both of them.

They state that the Premium differ from the cheaper C-Tek in that they have better run-out tolerances, less thickness variation, better balance to reduce vibration, original equipment vane design, a rust-resistant coating, and improved machining on the braking surface to reduce noise. Those are their points, and they manufacture both of the rotors.

I guess it depends what those items are worth to you. Those features bring the Centric Premium up to the level of the OE rotor in terms of performance, for a few dollars less than the OE rotor, while the C-Tek is designed to compete at a different price point, in exchange for more noise, worse braking, less cooling, and more rust.

Your first question in this thread was, what is a good rotor. Centric Premium is a good rotor, comparable to the OE rotor. There are cheaper options, and you get what you pay for.
