chas3 - thanks I'll do that
![]() jdudjak - I hope mine is an isolated case. I tried to dissect the old camera and found out why it died - it drowned!!! Look at the flooded camera inside. I couldn't save the LED lights chas3 Everything was flooded and also smelled like burnt electronics. ![]() Well that's it for this one - to the garbage can! Makes me wanna add fuses on both of my relays.
I hope the infiltration was caused by the wires side of the camera case (top side when you have the camera installed). I kinda sealed that one with some silicone. But if it was the bottom side (where the camera spot and leds are), there isn't much sealing you can do there. |

Hi fullmetal and chas3:
pls help. 1. i have an X5 ( E53) model, i check my ear view license light ( it says 0059164, C5W, PC HT) . 2. can i buy from this seller? will it fit my X5 ( E53 model). BMW 3 5 X5 X6 Series E46 Car Rear View Camera: eBay Motors (item 150472998891 end time Nov-24-10 23:21:08 PST) 3. If yes, should i get type A or type B. 4. Or should i buy from other seller a rear view cam that would exactly fit into E53 without much modification, if yes, from which seller. Thanks in advance |

No, the camera from that maya.yoyo dude does not fit into license plate light, at least not on FL models. You will have to cut through the trim (photos in post #73). If you are ok with that, you must definitely get type A.

This is the same seller I bought my camera from maya.yoyo. I had no problems with the shipping, cost and after sales returns / re-purchase.
The problem is that the camera - TYPE A or even TYPE B does not really FIT the License Plate Light Receptacle. It's not really PLUG and PLAY. As I said you will do some simple modifications - dremmelling, sanding and adjustments will have to be done to install even TYPE A. TYPE A is the closest fit. Oh before I forget, you have to seal those holes and spaces with silicone sealants as these type of cameras are NOT WATERPROOF at all! Don't forget that. |

Love to do the same
Is have a few questions...
1) Is there a wireless cam set up out there anywhere? 2) With factory nav, does even the wired version work on the factory nav? Thanks in advance! Mike

Shurap1. This is the resistor that I have on order to get rid of the problem "Check Licplate". When it gets in I shall install it. There are a few resistors on EBAY that you can purchase also.
