You manually adjust the parking brake shoes inside the rear combination rotor/drum.
Once they are adjusted correctly, you can adjust the cable if necessary, but always start with the brake shoes.

For some reason the linkback doesn't work. Try copying and pasting, I tried and it worked that way.

Is it just me, or is that link not working?
JCL is correct, to properly adjust the brake shoes, there is a star wheel that turns and pushes/spreads the shoes out just like a normal brake shoed vehicle. The lazy way to do it would be to pull you ebrake boot and tighten the nuts, taking the slack out of the cable. Both will get the job done, but turning the wheel at the she itself is the proper way. I like about 3-5 clicks, depending on which BMW it is.

The link didn't work for me, but searching on handbrake adjustment brought up that thread first. Link still doesn't work after editing.
Here is my try: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ar-wheels.html
