great points jcl. my buddy had Kumho tires that we inherited when we bought our bmw's. they were definitely not round, thumping the whole way. new michelins and thumping is gone!

i understand that when companies buy retreaded tires, they pay more for Michelin 'cores'. now I wonder why that is....??

Damn, guys! I didn't mean to start a mini-war. I was just asking for an opinion. Since I started this, I have gone with the Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sports for ~$1,000 to my door. They seem to have a good reputation based on about fifty reviews I've read over the last four or five days.

Later...

Bruce,

I recently trashed my rear Diamaris, they were quite poor. They had a wobble in them, they cupped badly on the inside edge and very noisy. So, I guess not all Michelins are equal..... (My Michelin X-ice on the Tundra are excellent but they do have a slight wobble to them!)

To replace the Diamaris I mounted a set of Bridgestone that were down to 4/32 that I got practically for free. They are much less noisy and had no wobble in them despite the advanced wear. They did not require much weight to balance and are worn evenly. I am not a fan of Bridgestone but these are quite decent for the amount of wear. So, you probably made a good choice there.

(Anyway, these Bridgestones are temporary as I have a set of Michelin Tours in the garage that will go on after the winter.)

Good luck.

great choice. the grabbers have a softer compound and will make cooler season driving safer for you.

That's a pretty good price! It will cost me $800 PER TYRE installed down here for those Bridstones!! No wonder us downunder are looking for alternative tyres.

For example, Michelin Diamaris will cost me $900 each for fronts and $1300 each for rears installed and balanced. that's $4400 just for just the tyres!!!
Crrraazzy!!!

I had my 20s fitted with toyo proxes ST IIs. ~$850 for a set of four mounted. I think i may have gotten a pretty damn good deal

And..after about 12k miles on them, they still look new!

I didn't think this forum was about politics. And if we want to talk about why countries are the way they are now, lets look at Australia. Why do you think we speak english and not japanese? It isn't because Australia did the right thing and looked after our northern coastline. It was the US fleet sitting in the Pacific that prevented the japanese from invading our shores. And do you have any idea of why our economy is booming? You don't? Well there is a legitimate reason for your lack of knowledge of our astounding economy.... Because it our astounding economy doesn't exist! So before we start making 'snide comments' as you put it, maybe we should get off our soap boxes don't you think?

End of the day, his opinion is his opinion. If you don't like it, don't worry about it. We are all adults are we not?
