The considerable difference in sidewall will make a noticeable difference in handling even at the lowest of speeds.

I am making no comment on the atturo's as I am actually reading whether to get them or not.

But if you got them with staggered 20's, then you would have replica wheels. So you have increased you rim size by nearly 20% and decreased your sidewall (read: insulation) by almost the same amount and you are surprised that noise and handling have been affected negatively ?

I went from 19" oems on Michies (not new) to 20" oem (e70, oem not cheap replicas) Bridgestones (new) when i got my x5, and i felt a considerable change in the cars behaviour, a much firmer and noisier ride and far more controlled handling.

There are massive drawbacks to having low profile tyres, white noise and harshness being at the top of the list, however often the firm ride is a considerable advantage to handling.

On Atturo's , i have heard a similar story to Kumhos, though they dont have the same history and so are cheaper again.

Just put the Atturo's on my06' 4.4i with 19"staggered wheels. As a qualifier, I am a 52 year old male and could afford more expensive tires but choose not to. Might as well throw good money out the window as I drive especially if you buy New Diamaris' at $1368 for the set. First mile's impression. Somewhat softer ride than the Diamaris which is a plus. Experienced a little understeer on the first corner, most likely due to cold tires, cold pavement and brand new tires. Recovered nicely. Noise level is pretty low and do not sound like i'm riding on pvc pipe for wheels.
I bought the full set delivered to my door from onlinetire.com for $609.00. The tread and carcass look equal to if not better than most of the tires offered out there including the Mich's. The only draw back to this tire is the sidewall adorned with cheesey flames that do not belong on a tire that is trying to target car owners with such classy cars as the high end cars with the sport/staggered set up. UGLY sidewall. I hope people at Atturro look at this and change the tire design. I would buy these again if they change this design faux pas. Yes there is a lot of poor quality stuff coming out of Mainland China but then there is a lot of nicely engineered items and they are usually produced by companies that have either a strong US or European management tie. They are evolving as any country does. Good tire ugly sidewall!

i probably started all this, and ive now had my 20 inch staggered atturos for 22 months

i average around 35,000 km per year and i can't seem to wear the things out, i still have a little less that half tread, although the front inner and outer edges are showing wear

probably due to the insane amount of round a-bouts we have, however since i lowered my X the inner rears are wearing, due to not having enough camber adjustment left, i will probably get a rear camber kit before i get new tyres

all said im still happy with them, i dont doubt that there are better tyres in the market but these sure give value for money.

i would say that you can probably get slightly better wet weather handling tyres, but my experience is that these are very progressive and warn you well in advance of loosing traction, and its usually at speeds in round a bouts that rear wheel drive sedans would,nt even get near

so all good for me, others might have different experiences and i respect that

Didn't realize there was a thread about these haha.. they're what I went with for my 19s as well. I have yet to find anything to complain about.

DTMdan, Those flames are right up there with the stick on Buick side vents you can get at Pep Boys! It's blasphamy on a German car.

For what it's worth, I just had these installed on the wife's X5 and so far so good. They are quiet and handle well. I'm with deepfreeze (above) about not wanting to spend the big Michelin money. We'll see over time if I regret that decision.

I've had new Atturo's sinces i bought the car, 275-40-20 all round. I was impressed at 1st, for a cheap tyre they gripped pretty well but after 25,000kms, the grip had diminished noticeably. They are wearing quite well, still got at least another 20,000kms in them and i admit i do corner aggressively. I've also had 2 shops try to balance them with some success, but i'm still not happy.

Would i buy them with my own money? No.

ive now had mine, 20 inch staggered for a 2years and 3 months, i do around 35,000 km per year so ive probably done 80,000 km, i dont drive aggresivly but that said i do have my moments, the only negative i have is in my case they are noisy, and especially so on concrete roads.

will i buy them again????

actually next time im going to try Kumho tyres, still not a high priced tyre but I'm going to give them a shot.

Any tire is a value equation based on your driving priorities. I have tried every tire other than Atturo offered for 20" staggered application. It is great you were asking from those that have experience with Atturo, especially those that drive like you do and have 10,000 or more miles on the tires. While my equation has performance at the top I got tired of paying the hefty price of OEM tires or so called equivalents. I have found the are much less expensive tires out there that are quiet, have great wet and dry traction and last longer. Some of my choices fell short in some of the criteria in value but never so much I removed them before they wore out. If the Federal tires are the same and have been around longer you might google those tires for reviews. If you can find the supporting reviews---here or online give them a whirl. I have been challenged as to my sanity for some of the mods I have done. I listened but----
