Thanks Wayne. Will take a closer look at it this weekend. Will probably replace with a worm clamp though as I hate those single use or pinch style clamps. So unnecessarily difficult to work with.

Thanks! She's (along with our other BMW's) keeping me busy. The aero jokes are all in good fun. It's a badge of honor to be the only aero kit enthusiast.

In fact, I'm working on the wife to be able to buy this:

So far she's not going for it though.

I think the aero kit looks fantastic! Unfortunately I spent all my budget on performance. One day I’ll be able to dress her up.

Haha... I’ve been trying to get the wife to take as well. No bite though. I think it’s the age.

Love that deep blue on the 4.8is. How many miles does it have?

Jeez, i hope he's giving it away for free. Doesn't the late model E53 employ a somewhat troublesome trasmission?

Are you confident in your ability to repair/ refurbish this particular gear box?

LoL! It employs a lot of troublesome systems. And no, I'm not confident in my ability to rebuild the 6hp26. But I am confident in my ability to remove it and throw in another after swapping the mechatronics.

That would make for a great DIY, just a suggestion. How about the engine? Any weak points you need to address?

I haven't gone to see it in person yet. Still trying to get a glimmer of hope from the Boss. Don't want to waste the seller's time. Want to at least have the go-ahead for a low ball offer.

Not a great ad by the seller. He's asking a reasonable amount if reasonable recent maintenance has been done (plugs, coils, cooling system, etc). Would still expect it to need valve stem seals, front suspension, etc at the price. Ad says he has maintenance records, but at it's current mileage it's due for it's second cooling system overhaul, second suspension overhaul. Yada yada.

I'm interested because of that estoril blue (looks brighter than lemans) and aero kit.

That paint looks more lemans than estoril blue. Maybe because the picture's taken under the shade?

Liqui Moly MOs2 can cure that valve stem issue, no? What plugs are you referring to?

This guy's youtube Bimmer DIY is really awesome. I hope he starts a new one on E53:
