Any chrome or metallic silver should be fine. Just lightly coat it.

Did the front bulbs yesterday:

Subtle difference overall, more of an up-close improvement but it does lose that orange "tint"/egg yolk look that it gave off from a distance too. (See sig for quick comparison)

I would think the paint wouldn't have good adhesion to the glass, will flake off when exposed to the repeatative heat cycling, would reduce light output and cause premature filament failure due to the paint trapping heat.
I went with the StealthAuto bulbs, NASA certified supplier does the vapor deposition coating (same process as the Space Shuttle bulbs), lifetime replacement for peeling/flaking and even bulb burnout. The brightest marker/signal bulbs I've ever seen to boot. $80 for all 6 bulbs shipped.

Well I'm not wasting that much money on bulbs again. I had them on my E46, they're not worth it.

True, but I've been driving without a front for years and never had an issue.

Washed the 4.8 today. BMWNA called back about the 4.4 and goodwilling the instrument cluster because of the dead pixels(Offered some relief but may not be enough to be worth my while to send it to the Dealer. May just do it myself) And Original Delivering Dealership for the 4.8is called and just printed all the service records for the X and is mailing them. Should be here tomorrow. It was a good day.

Trying to negotiate a new set a wheels "Style 63's" with a "Practically new set" of 4x4 Diamaris on them. Saw them listed at $800, trying to negotiate down to $550.

Found this to be a cheaper option then buying a new set of tires.

I know the diamaris aren't the best, but I can deal with it.

Oh BTW this is going to go on the 4.4i not the 4.8is lol.

Our two week old 2002 4.4 is in the body shop today getting some minor imperfections removed. Scrapped mirrors are getting painted, both mirror trim rings painted, one replaced. Along with the first foot or so of the roof painted due to the paint chipping off (on it's own???) on the leading edge of the roof. New windshield going in. Get it back tomorrow morning with only two remaining minor blemishes. My outsanding PDR guy comes Monday to get rid of those. Then our 10 year old X5 will look new.

Replaced lower oil pan gasket due to a slow but increasing leak. And decided to put a healthy coat of wax on before cold weather arrives.

Replaced secondary blower for emissions - hoses and sensor were ok, guess mine just died of old age. Fishcake sent wrong (D2C) bulbs, so headlight still out, back-ordered 'til 5 Oct <sigh>.

Well, she is gone. But got new shoes!

So the 4.4i era is done. After a week and a half of parts and work oh and money, the 4.4i has gone to a new home. I gave my 4.4i to my father. He always loved it and what better person could it go to?

She needed new shoes so I got a good deal on a set of 63's with 9/32nds of tread (Michy Diamaris) on them, plus the 18" spare. Style 74. Got all 5 for $450! lol Can't beat it.

So this what the X looked before.

And the after.

Here is another shot.

And the White Knight and the Dark Knight!!!

I gave him the snow shoes too. So now I have a set of style 69's with some Michy Energy's on them, but I need to get snow shoes for them. I'll prob get Ice and Snows again although I heard the Blizzaks are good, but the wear sucks.

I guess we will see.
