Install was a PITA. The new lights do not have the same connection as either my E53's or the E38. I ended up massacring them into submission. After that tho, it was easy.

The ones that have served faithfully for all the 18 years...

And the new kids in town...
I didn't take a before pic bc I figure that 99% of us can just go outside and take a look for ya damn selves. But here's what'll greet my lil wifey when she's in a dark parking lot next time. Bonus: She can activate the trunk and pretty much light up the inside of the thing...
And then... Well, just don't raise the gate anywhere near an airport. Planes will mark on your bright ass..
Changed mine a few years ago. HUGE difference.

Which ones did you go with Prop? All the aftermarket ones I get end up blinking after about 6 months. Even the "designed by an electrical engineer" ones that are on Ebay.

I bought a set from Amazon that work well so far but been 2 months. The face out causes blinking in the main lights from the mirror.

I'm going to close out the fade and see what I prefer. I'm usually not in the car to appreciate the fade anyhow.

Coil covers are painted and installed. New gaskets under them so they fit great.

Good to know. I saved the old ones. Let's see how long they last. My bet is that they're all the same thing. These are Amazonians. I have some coming from China as well. Qty 5 wasn't enough to outfit the fleet.

What did you do to / for your E53 today??

I coded my interior lights to not fade today. No more blinking. Maybe with only on/off they will last longer than 6 mo.

AUXITO 194 LED Light Bulb 6000K White 168 2825 W5W T10 Wedge 24-SMD 3014 Chipsets LED Replacement Bulbs Error Free for Car Dome Map Door Courtesy License Plate Dash Instrument Lights, Pack of 10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071LHP5WP...ing=UTF8&psc=1

They say 6k. They are warmer. Maybe 5k they don't look blue. I'm very happy with them. Ten was about half of the lights in my interior (apparently original buyer had ordered the enhanced lighting package which nearly doubles the number of interior lights.

Case in point: that photo is at night with the only illumination being interior LED lighting!

I was all curious to hear what wifey thought of the lights on a Costco run that bled into sundown. I swearNoShit, She says...

"The whole damn parking lot saw me!"

Mission accomplished.

Had a little down time, and I'm waiting for a delayed shipment, so did the Beisan VANOS seals. I'd forgotten how absurdly easy this is on an M54. It's a lot more of a project on the S54/S50B32.

Took the family in the X out to the New Orleans air show; roughly 50 miles round trip with a little bit of every type of driving. Including crossing over the Mississippi. The last time she crossed the river bad things happened but today she ran like a top. Belts look great with no fraying, etc. I think the new pulley and re-torque of the tensioner/pulley assembly fasteners solved the problem.

Gave my wife’s Jeep and the X a bath this evening.

Has anyone solved the problem of the trunk lid grip slowly loosening up over time and allowing water by the crappy seal? I’ve put a new grip on, am using new expansion fasters in, put a thicker round rubber seal in to replace the thinner OEM piece and recently added new bump-stops. The new ones are spring loaded, wich really helps soften the impact of closing the lid, but the expansion fasteners are still working themselves out over time. I’m considering having a thin metal piece welded over the fastener holes and the using self tapping metal screws to screw the grip in. Maybe someone has a better fix though.
