Had to fish my driver's side window out of the door today... I'm sure the clip broke that holds the glass to the regulator. I'm guessing the PO had the regulator replaced and they either reused the clips that were on it, or it's a non-OEM regulator. I knew it was a matter of time as it always made noise when closing the door. Poor repair-job most likely, but I'll know for sure after I open it when the OE replacement arrives.
FYI, fishing it out is fairly simple... and keeps you from having to pull the door panel to raise your window. I used some 3M double sided tape (the stuff they mount body panels/trim with) and a small pair of needle nose pliers (the shorter stubby kind). Put a piece of tape on each side of the glass and use those as cushions and grip for your pliers while you lift. In my case I had to lift at the rear of the glass since that was the side that popped out of the regulator. Note: this will only work if one side of your window is still attached to the regulator. Will not work if the window has completely come off or regulator has failed.

Well... I did the dreaded 6HP26X trans service and Liqui Molly engine flush. F**K this B**L S**T is all I can say right now! I have had the parts and fluid sitting in my garage since September and finally had a buddy around to help this evening. I had a surging / slacking issue in fifth gear ONLY and after talking to ZF I went forward with this fluid change. The only redemption to my evening was that my 4 1/2 year old daughter wanted to "help" and "learn how to fix our cars." By the way do NOT go with the vaico filter for the trans... It kept falling out... I had to re-use the existing ZF filter seal to keep it from falling back out of the transmission. And the Febi trans pan gasket does not fit... I will be calling ECS in the morning and might freak out on them a bit... Updates will follow when I have them.

^I agree with this. On a $2 oil drain plug, sure maybe go with the aftermarket and not notice a difference, but not on major seals, parts, filters etc

cursed mine quietly under my breath as I saw the oil leak again. valve cover gasket was replaced last Friday. Oil leak is back again.
Will take it to my indy and check what is leaking again.. and if it's the valve seal.. .may just get another cover and try again. |

Use a factory valve cover gasket. I have had bad experience on my S54 w/a non-factory VCG...PITA
