Do Some Police Officers live in the stone age?

So i'm coming out of a parking lot at my school (a tad bit fast) a cop passes by. She pulls up next to me and here's how our dialogue went (Slightly abbreviated):

her: "You were going WAY to fast in that parking lot, the un posted speed limit is 15, you were going at least double"
(By the way, i was NOT going 30)

Me: "I apologize, i'm in a rush"

Her: "Oh also, your BRIGHTS are on"

Me (looking down at my dash): "No they arent..."

Her: "They were WAY TOO bright"

Me: "yes, i know, they are called Dynamic Xenon's, they move up and down and to the side, so sometimes they look brighter than usual"

her: "those are illegal, called dazzling headlights, I can give you a ticket for it"

me: "wait, so youre saying that BMW has been producing these headlights illegally for 10 years?"

Her: "yes they are illegal, look it up, 'dazzling headlights'"

Me: "What are you gonna do, sue BMW?"

Her: "No, i'm not suing BMW, you should.."

Me: "umm, they are just xenon lights maam"

her: "Dont give me attitude, i'm giving you a warning this time..."

Me: "Have a nice night"

wtf

"In New York, headlight flashing is not illegal. New York Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 375 [3] requires that headlamps "shall be operated so that dazzling light does not interfere with the driver of the approaching vehicle".[29] In 1994, New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division held that flipping or flicking high beams at approaching vehicles is insufficient to cause the "dazzling lights" prohibited under New York Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 375 [3].[30] In 2009, the New York Supreme Court held that the flashing of lights alone is not a violation of New York Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 375 [3], that stopping a vehicle based upon that is illegal, and all evidence gather as a result of the illegal stop should be suppressed.[31]"

i think they are just super-bright headlights... like beyond the legal limit, i guess certain HID kids fall under this

Ahh man, this is way too funny... reminded me of the good ole days by Hamilton NY when i was in college years ago... upstate ny cops, esp local townie cops are real tools.. they have nothing better to do.. "sorry for any cops here" but I had my share of stories with these local cops and their nagging habits.

Naz, enjoy your time upstate, it can get pretty boring during winter, and not to forget the endless snow, wet, salty and muddy roads... bluh.

Amateur conversions are a problem here, and will get you a ticket if the police notice them. I fully support the police ticketing those running non-focused Xenon bulbs. They are simply obnoxious when oncoming at night.

I agree on that point JCL made, but the cop needs to be better educated on the difference between aftermarket xenons in open halogen housings and OEM xenons with diffuser lenses.
