Check the oil level first. Make sure you top it up properly. The fluid temperature is a very important factor.

where does one check the fluid? nothing has been done to the trans, had a fuel pump installed a couple of months ago. Front cv axles 2 years ago.

yes, it does indeed move with the selector in park altho not under its own power

It's the transfer box, axle or a driveshaft then.....
