Thanks Blker! I too have a 16:9 factory Nav DSP in my 01 x5. I am on the fence if I a going The dynavin or the dice mediabridge route and keeping my factory unit. The only draw back besides the extra cost is that the dynavin OBC displays in Metric. I know it is not that big of a deal but I am used to watching my range on my Nav screen.

For me, it wasn't a big deal because I always displayed my range on the instrument cluster using the signal stalk button. And even with the Dynavin installed, the display on the instrument cluster is still in "mls".
What I learned: - the OBC is located somewhere else, not in the nav monitor as I originally thought it was (I was even driving around with the info turned off in the instrument cluster for a few weeks prior to the install to get myself use to not having it anymore...lol) The only thing you lose from the OBC is not having the ability to reset and/or make adjustments to some of the OBC features (e.g. timer features and the date/time from the OBC...the Dynavin has it's own internal date/time clock) - besides, I figure if I do look at the OBC info on the Dynavin, it'll get me use to metric in preparation when the US will eventually switch to the metric system...lol |

OK, finally fixed the alternator whine noise issue!!!
Installed a high/low converter on the output speaker wires and removed the output RCA plugs. That fixed everything. Perhaps the output RCA is somehow picking up the interference from the speaker wires on the Fakra cable (will go back and update the DIY instructions) So after trying ground loop isolators, power line filters, and high/low converter...I could've applied all that towards an AudioControl LC6i. Oh well, next time. I'm just happy the alternator whine is gone and I can move on to upgrading the subwoofer to finish up the project. |

That is awesome that you got it working. i think it's just the quality of the units being so cheap... i think very few people will actually end up using the RCAs unless they are in the same boat as you and I with DSP and custom amps. Would you mind pointing me in the direction where you picked up your high low converters? I unfortunately cut off all of my wires from my harness for those, so I may be forced to purchase another one from jeff (dammit). Hopefully It'll work for me. I'm not sure what those things do, but i'm glad to hear it worked for you.

Hey Tho//a5,
I have an extra short harness if you think you can use it. It's the harness with the round pin plugs instead of the flat pin plugs. If I understand your install correctly, you would just need to cut the big end off and then just connect all the wires up to your current power wires. That will give you the speaker output wires that you can then just setup the high/low converter. You can have it for free since I don't have a use for it; just pay for the flat rate USPS priority mail shipping. PM me if you want it. I got the high/low converter from a local car stereo shop because I didn't want to wait another week for delivery to test the solution. So it's a generic no name brand high/low converter. Something like this: Scosche LOC80 2-channel line output converter at Crutchfield.com But if I had to do it all over again, I would probably consider a full LOC like the AudioControl LC6i: AudioControl LC6i (Gray) 6-channel line output converter for adding outboard amps to your factory audio system at Crutchfield.com |

I actually live right near Irvine. Perhaps we can work something out? I just needed to know how many channels it is going to for each RCA conversion. IE how many wires do i need on the non-RCA end? haha. I'll shoot you a PM with my info and see if we can work something out. I'm also frequently in huntington beach.

BlkXer and THO Its been a couple of months now guys how are your units doing. was it the E39 or E39A installed, did you figure out how to convert from metric to standard, does the PDC and OBC works with unit ???. The whining/feedback noise is it only on system with DSP. I am about to dive in and get me a DVN-E39A-D99 unit but before i do just wanted an update on what to expect and not expect. oohh and if it was E39 does anyone have feedback on the E39A.

I have the D99 non android version bought on ebay from a seller in California! I'm going to install it using the "work around DSP amp" method as described in another post. Just received the wire harness i needed (Metra 71-9003) today and going to follow those instructions to bypass the DSP.
I'll let you all know how it goes!!
