nice fix.
Too bad when i had it. It was a very hard freeze in the mountains. All i did was go down the mountain and it thawed itself out.

It's been hitting the single digits, even negative numbers overnight. I'm still waiting to see what could happen while sitting outside during the day. Got my fingers crossed.

Well I guess you can another one to the frozen door lock problem. Got it this morning. When got the drivers side door open, the door wouldn't close. I pushed this latch thing where the door catches metal bar and the door finally closed. But then now, the door wouldn't even open as I pull the handle. The car locks fine with the remote and the key but still the door doesn't open. I pray to God that I didn't snap a cable or something in the door mechanism. I guess i'll wait and see how the day goes when the temp goes up to see of the door will open. This is very frustrating... had to put the kids in their car seats then climb through the passenger side.

RMak,

Been there done that. When it gets warmer it works. Some place on these forums people have suggested to spray antifreeze/coolant on the locks moving mechanism and behind the plastic tab above the door latch. Do a search on it.

Just know that the cause of the jams is when you got rain, snow or ice on your window and it melts and goes down the window then refreezes.

On my lunch break I went back out and the door opened. I actually went through a cold winter last year and never experienced the flozen door problem.

Funny thing though, my coworker who also owns an X5 says, he gets it like 3 or 4 times a year.

I had this happen once after I washed the X while in Reno, so it was my own fault. I poured hot water over the door handle and it finally started working normally. It was so cold that the hot water froze onto the exterior of the door.

I got it couple times this past winter, thanks for the refresher.

I just got my X5 this past weekend and already experienced it.... first thing I did ... well after getting out of the car was doing a search. I had my local car shop spray some lubricant on it and it has been fine since then.

I am curious .. that if you get those air/rain deflector vents if that will stop or deflect some of the water that goes down into the door locks.. at least from the top portion of the door, this is something I plan to put on anyways but just got myself curious on this.

- Bradley
