I have OE 20s on mine and I would say 21" are about the limit ,most would go to with their E53,thus keeping a standard look as well as being practical and keeping some reasonable ride confort.

You say you saw some on CarDomain with 24",then you would have seen that the tyres would have to be 275/25/24 and are such a low profile that you will be riding almost on the wheel!

Each one to their own and I have the same opinion of most here,but if you want to go ahead with it,then you dont need any mods!Just get wheels with the ET (OFFSET) as close to OE as possible and the corrrect size tyres and the 24" will bolt straight on with no mods.

Anyway ,I took some pics of the X5 with 24"in a local shop ,to give you another idea
