I tried some more. The video below is what I referred to as seeing the bags. After watching it again it seems it is not seeing anything but the transmission because at :59 it shows data after the transmission control.

What should I check to get it to see everything else assuming my theory is valid.

I got it from an identical post to this in e46fanatics.
BMW and INPA success E39/E46 onwards

The update took away e53 so it is back to not updated.

I have tried it with the key in every position including out & running.

Can you point me to your version? I would like to try one we know works on our cars.

Thanks

So after reading this thread i got all excited about doing coding on my car.
Looked easy - install software, plug the cable into the car, launch the program and automagically all the stuff is going to work.
So i bought INPA with K+DCAN cable, installed the software on my VM WinXP SP3 instance, followed online instructions on setting up USB interface on COM1 blah blah... plugged in the cable into the car, turned the key to pos2, launched INPA and nothing...tried NCSEXPERT - same result. I don't think my computer is connecting to the car...
Either dots besides ignition or battery do not turn black in INPA and if i try using NCSEXPERT the software does not read my VO... any idea what i might be missing?

If you have a SRS fault issue, just resetting the error code will not clear the fault code. You need to fix the problem and then clear the code.

I have done this and was expected that the time will be pulled from GPS module and inserted into the car's computer.

But the time in the car is still not set after driving with this option active for some time already.

My understanding was that once I activate this option, I no longer have to set time and date every time I reconnect my battery...am I wrong in my assumptions?

well... your understanding is what i would have expected from the system as well... but.. the system was designed in late 80-s, early 90-s... so, it is a little bit different...

you need to set the clock as close to the actual time as possible, and the system will sync the minutes only, not the hours... from my testing, the minutes need to be set within 4 minutes from actual time...

sorry if this disappointed you...

finally bought a laptop and cables (OBDII, ADS, IBus (Resler USB connector)) and am so excited to start connecting the laptop to X5 but I have to learn/read so much about the software to use. man oh man there is a lot of software to use. Super stoked tho to figure it out over Xmas a little bit. Even if to just turn off cold monitoring on lights

Well, it's been some time since i've posted. This is more of a warning of sorts. So... I cannot stress enough how important it is to back-up your .man/.trc files. Yesterday (after many months working to get my BMW laptop operational again and wasting $80 on a new imaged harddrive for it, to only get the thing working on my own - another story for another time) I decided to code my LCM in order to have fogs stay on with high beams. Mind you I have reinstalled everything on this laptop and not being as on-top of things as I normally am, erased all of my trace and man files. After accidentally processing the entire vehicle (which reverts every thing back to defaults - and I mean everything), then my laptop battery dying in the middle of coding, I began to freak-out. Every setting, every parameter added, the time i've spent on here talking to members like Term and GT1 to get my X just perfect for me - Well, you get the picture. I am now going through each module, setting things back to the way they were. NCS Expert can do some wonderful things but, it can be dangerous for those whom lack experience. Read everything you can. Start small, and don't be afraid to ask questions. We are all here to help. Sorry so long as well.

Is there a comprehensive list for the e53? I did some searching and couldn't find anything. I just got my BMWhat stuff in and am going to code some items... namely cold/warm monitoring for the license plate lights since I installed a backup cam with LED lighting.

This was all I could find... is this for the e53 or is this a list of all coding options across the BMW family? Just curious... since this seems pretty comprehensive.
