Best Exhaust for 3.0i

I'm looking into getting an exhaust for my 3.0i. I've searched and read through a few threads but most of them are either old or about the 4.4/6/8.

I'd like to stay away from the custom route so I can easily switch back if I ever have to sell the X and not really interested in only doing the X-pipe.

I'm looking for a loud setup so I would like to stay away from the Remus system.. I've looked into the following: Billy Boat, Eisenmann, Supersprint, and Tubi.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Billy Boat as it close to half the price of the other 3. I've been checking here and eBay everyday but nothing used ever pops up (I would love to get a Eisenmann or Supersprint used)

If you have any advice or input it is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Dan

I know you say you don't want custom, but unbolt at the flanges right after the center silencer and run 2 straights to the rear eliminating the rear silencers. I'm sure you will get your sound that way. As well as being able to revert back. That is my exact plan myself.

I did this with my 330xi and although it did sound amazing, the drone did get a little old after awhile. Also, it was a bit obnoxious (I didn't mind but others did).

I have scoured everywhere for somebody who has done this to a X5. No luck at all, everybody seems to swap out the middle silencer and leave the rears. I did this on my Chrysler 300 I have and the result was very nice.

Anyone have any input on the Billy Boat exhaust? I'm tempted to get it but I'm afraid it won't be as loud as want it.. I might have to wait for a used Eisenmann Race to pop used or just bite the bullet and spend the extra $$.

Best method is probably locating a shop that can do mandrel bends for you and make a custom exhaust. They can, if they are capable, tailor a system to your exact taste.

I met a guy at Corvettes at Carlisle last year. He had a BB exhaust on his 02 4.4i. While it sounded good, there was a tinge at the top end. Just too rough for my taste. Otherwise is sounded good before 6K rpm.

Now I had a BB exhaust on my Twin Turbo and THAT sounded great!!!

I know you have a 3.0, but not many mod the X's this way. Most of what I've seen in mods is appearance and not performance.

Why did yo part with your Z32s? BB oval tips look nice on the rear of the Z. I have SZ ovals on mine.

Ya know, I got it when I first started driving. While every kid either had a merc, porsche, BMW and of course a civic all hooked up with trash can muffler and roller skate wing in the back I had this! It still looked awesome and had some personality. It was just 450hp of Raw gut wrenching power. Pair that up with a pair of Garrett t35 ball bearing turbos, FA waste gate actuators and 4:10 leader gears, I seriously needed to start out in 2nd sometimes because the rear end kept coming out.

But the amount of time money and work that it required I just couldn't take it. I haven't had a z32 that had working Ac or heat. Always had a bad compressor, so I took it out and always had a bad heater core and I wasn't prepared to rip the entire dash out to replace the damn thing. Then the amount of rubber I went through. It was just insane. So I got sensible and got a Nissan pathfinder, that lasted for all of 6 months. Then it was like a bad porno. Just started buying and flipping cars. It was an obsession. I checked into the Henry ford clinic and I was cured. Then came along my BMW. Then I started buying tools of all sorts and computers. I'm a junkie again. Oh well. Still cheaper than buying women. That is... Until the tranny goes. Lol
