Not sealing anything, but keeps the entire front end tight.

Hey Guys,

What is the torque spec for the steel plate? Just making sure it is holding up.

New bolts/nuts are a MUST. It's a 2 stage TQ process, 41 ft lbs then 90 degrees.

Part #4 in the picture.

You need to replace the bolts because once you torque them to spec, you need to twist the bolts a full 90 degrees. This stretches the bolt locking it into place. If you re-use your old bolts, you would need to turn them, an additional 90 degress or 180 total from when they were originally used.
Are you taking the piss? I've been on this forum for over 4 years AND using realoem for nearly 8 years you mug! 'Please try to learn how to use it' WHAT????????? Where the fuck has THAT come from?????? Who the fuck do you think you are you condescending prick? You've only been here 5 minutes and you're telling people what to do with no prior knowledge of their knowledge. Yeah, you're real smart!

I didnt know what 6 reinforcement 'PLAT' bolts YOU were referring to as I can't see why anything I had removed needs to be (specifically) renewed and torqued, as like I said the plate is not sealing anything-hence the question!!!!!!

I really think that you and people like you tend to be overly sensitive online and respond so harshly partly because you're expressing yourself over the safety of the Internet, maintaining anonymity and the lack of real-time personal feedback. If you were engaged in a real life conversation I doubt you would have taken the same tone and had the same response. I am not sure why posting on the Internet turns people into rude assholes.

I am thrilled that you've been using Real OEM for a long time and I am delighted that you've been a member of this website for such a long time. That is encouraging, since the activity on this forum is pretty low compared to other, non-X forums. Your tone and demeanor will surely help build a sense of community to newer members and foster a friendly environment for people to share ideas. Cheers!

By the way, while I have only been here for a mere five minutes, I must point out that I have contributed to a number of useful DIY videos to this forum and to the BMW community as a whole (E46, E30 and E53). Please direct me to all the the helpful, useful and worthwhile posts that you have made during your tenure here.

It is not my intention to get into an online flaming war with you or anyone else on the Internet, as that is just a waste of time and energy. Instead, I felt that I need to defend myself from hot heads like you. Let's move on past this.

I need to correct a misconception. The skid plate IS engineered as part of the suspension. It does not "seal" anything. It acts as a stress member for the lower suspension. That is why it is torqued and also why it is not made of plastic like a typical underbelly cover.

In addition, the 4 bolts in the back secure the swaybar

When ordering Redline gear oil should i get the:

57904 - 75W90 Synthetic Gear Oil
or
57304 - 75W90 Non-Limited Slip Synthetic Gear Oil?

The redline website states i should use 57904.
