Sorry I don't know if there is such an override. Hopefully someone else will be able to answer definitively.

I am glad to see more positive posts.
My project was pricier than yours to start with
If you have a spare ride and decent toolbox, don't listen to anybody with crappy attitudes,it's your money and your time you are spending,it's nobody else's business.
Enjoy it and if not, part it out, you'll make way more than $2000.

Well said!

I love my X5 and the spare ride helps when the small projects get in the way of driving her! This site has tons of info and has saved me tons of $$$$!

Good luck with the project!

Say what! I recall seeing this X in westernmass not to long ago in better shape, unless it was another black X with rims and tap out sticker.

It must have been a different one... odds are there are more than one black x5 with a tapout sticker. (removing it was my first mod)

I put the new M5 spec battery in the car after work and it lasted while I was in the gym and got me home. Fingers crossed that my bad battery was the issue and not that some drain caused the battery to die. I guess I'll find out in the morning. I hate tracing electrical problems.

I look forward to the transition of this X. Looks like you have great taste judging by your other cars...

How long till you think you'll have it back in good cosmetic and mechanical shape?

how long is an interesting question. hopefully within a month or so. I need to find a black hood to avoid paying to paint one.

I drove it to work today for the first time, got 14mpg over 25 miles of mixed driving. Hopefully this improves a little once I replace the MAF.

I'm packing an extra battery and jumper cables in case the new battery drains out.

You can unlock your OBC and do test #9 to monitor your voltage. Normally if your alternator has a problem you will get an idiot light. However, maybe the light is bad or something else.

At least you can get more info. from your vehicle. You can monitor it while driving but be careful please.
