Don't need any encouragement in that area! Once a Californian driver, always a Californian driver. I can't wait to get it out on track. It will be a blast terrifying the smash 944/Miata people. If it's half as good as Tiff makes it look, it should be quite a hoot. I will take video when that happens don't worry.

Sorry for the confusion...the problem is on my end, not yours. The server your images are uploaded to are blocked by my employer. It's there way to prevent those that are slightly addicted to social media from spending all day "updating" etc.

But with your latest upload...I can see that she's just as lovely as I imagined.

Congrats! I just picked up a 2005 4.8is as well. Found it in Austin and drove it back to Denver, as it was impossible to find a clean example in Denver at the time. Looks like you found a good one here!

How funny. What a small world. Love the Imola red on yours. Do you ever head to C&C in Lafayette or the GI show down by e470/i25?

I swear I was looking at yours just before I bought mine. Probably. I was scouring the web all over. I actually purchased a 2003 4.6is off Manheim (wholesale auction site), but the rats sold it out from under me for $2k more than I paid. Next day (last Thursday) I happened to find my blue one. Went down and looked at it, it checked out, so I brought it home the next day. They had barely gotten it in their system when I snatched it up

I agree with what you say in your thread regarding the driving experience. The 4.8is E53's are very driver involved. It took me a minute to adjust my driving style back to BMW from the Mercs. I very nearly stood the X5 up on it's nose twice before I got it through my head that the brakes respond like a car should. I'm sure it looked quite funny from outside. If you haven't driven a newer Mercedes, the method for braking is simply: mash on the pedal and pray the electronic committee will slow you down before you run grandma over.

I see you spend your workdays in the same manner that I do.

Thanks! I'll post better pictures towards the end of next week. I will also post up dyno results. I have an appointment booked for that next Wednesday.

I haven't yet. If you think of it, shoot me a pm if you go to one of those through the winter.

After many hours of deep thought in my version of Clarkson's Mood Room, I think I'll run 20x9.5 OZ Canyon ST's on Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow 275/40/20s for winter. I just can't run 19's in the winter. The huge sidewalls of the 19's don't mesh well with the IS's (IMO :surrender. The OZ's are the least objectionable 20's out there besides HRE's and Forgelines. I am utterly stunned at how many "Discount Tire Specials" are available (think 22x8.5 Lorenzo's in black and chrome) for these trucks.

They seem fairly neutral on most cars....

Aside from the wheels and your side badges, it looks like you have my car! Welcome to the LeMans (the best) Blue club!

Thanks!! I was actually debating removing the badges from mine, but I'm on the fence. At least with the badges, people stand half a chance of knowing what blew them off the road? The LeMans blue is such a cool color. I had an Estoril Blue '99 M3 for a while, and while it was a fun blue, I found that it became "boring"/less appealing over time. I am dying to see mine outside on a sunny day--it was cloudy over the weekend before I dropped it off at BMW. I have noticed that it's almost like chameleon paint. It changes shades depending on what lighting it's under. I'm even more excited to get some Zymol wax on it. Cannot wait to see it after that. I will post up pictures before and after that happens.
