CCFL's are a thing of the past, check out the xbA LED rings over at TRS. They'll knock the socks off any other AE kit(led or ccfl)...just keep in mind that the install will be more involved as they are not vehicle specific.

As far as opening up a permasealed housing, if you haven't really tinkered with headlamps before they can definitely be a challenge first time round. Just take your time.

Any red/blue/green light in the front of the vehicle is LEO on public roads. I believe this is a Federal code, so it does not depend on the state. Hook it up to a switch on the interior and turn it on when you're parked if you really want it.


Also keep in mind, nothing is illegal until you're caught. I saw a black E38 740i this Saturday with red Angel Eyes. Looked devious.

Correct, the front must be either amber or white. Color requirements of emitted light for the front and rear of the vehicle can be found in the FMVSS 108 (which also outlines source reqirements for intensity of lamps as well).
