I have the Akebonos all around. Quiet, not as grabby as OEM but still stops good and no dust. Got them from FCP Euro about $115 for both F&R

The X was in for a little repair yesterday so I had an indy 325 loaner.
At the end of today I got reminded how sensitive the Akebono's
really are, and how big and powerful the X really is. Glad to have my
ride back....

Made it just in time for both belts and a radiator hose.....

You can use Textar or Jurid, are the original marks supplied by BMW in Europe.

Anyone have experience with ThermoQuiet by Wagner brake pads on the X5? I saw that the Akebono ceramics only have a 3 year warranty, and I would like lifetime. Thanks.

Carbotechs are awesome. Really good pad. I use them on the M5 and the X5. Yes they cost a little bit more than the average pad but there compound works well for bite low dust generation. I run the 1521's on both vehicles.

Got a set of brake pads at Pep Boys on Black Friday. They were 19.95, so for 40 bucks plus change I got pads for front and rear. Haven't installed them because the pads on my X is still good. Lifetime warranty and made in the U.S.A.

I have Porterfield R4S pads on my 4.8is and 4.6is (and my 330i and my M3 on the street)

Awesome upgrade - especially if you tow or drive aggressively. Bites as well as oem with less dust and better performance when hot.

I recommend them 200%

Textar for me for both rotors and pads. Couldn't be happier. The brakes work incredibly well and the rotors, with Textar's coating, stay rust free. I didn't pads and rotors all around for a bit over $300.
