And for a while, and like you said it is full steam ahead, i havent bothered to fix it yet. Although at times it feels like it smokes more often on some days, maybe its the weather

I really do not think it is the PCV. I changed that on mine and it didn't make a lick of difference. I'm just wondering if there is anything else other than the valve seals that it could be. I'd much rather stay away from pulling my cams if I don't have to.

Dude I'm really sorry to tell you that, but when my car had this problem, they change the entire engine (under extended warranty). I have the same car, 4.8is 2006. Unfortunately, the car has start to smoke like yours. There was high oil consuption. They (Dealer) rebuilt both heads with everything... but the problem was not solved. A month later, I return there with a huge noise and a spun bearing (Several damage. cause: ROD KNOCK.
Now the beast runs like a champ, but they took 60 days to repair, tests and delivery my car back. If you really have time and money (and god bless you: an warranty), it's time to look the botton end IMO. Really sorry for that, but maybe is not so simple like PCVs, seals... Chris |

If only heads, after rebuilt, I would say to change the oil and filter and drive slow for 10 miles. Get back and change the oil/filter again. It's cheap than a new engine. ![]() Chris Last edited by Christiano; 03-18-2013 at 08:01 PM. Reason: forgot info |

I'm considering doing this project and making a video of the step by step process. I have found videos of parts of the process, but nothing from beginning to end.

I have 06 4.4i and I am having thise exact same issue with the oil consumption and white/blue smoke on long idle or very slow stop and go til I open up the trottle, it starts to smoke but then it's gone.
Any help on how to avoid the dealership on this fix would be highly appreciated! |

I called a couple of independent BMW service providers and they first say it could be the PCV. CraigAtkinson, how much did you pay for the PCV?
