Blue smoke on extended idle. 2006 4.8is.

Just a quick FYI - the changing on the crankcase vent valve did not resolve the problem. This morning I had the puff of blue/white smoke appeared while in traffic. BTW, I bought my 2006 4.4i brand new and always took care of it... for this to be happening is unbelievable.

Hopefully running an engine flush in the oil this weekend and changing it to 5-20 mobil, will post back if that helped or not...

pezho405 by chance do you remember if the plugs were evenly colored or did any specific plugs stand out more then others?

i found changing to a 5w40 oil helped mine smoke less, althoe that could have also been the rear main seal treatment working on the valve stem seals too?

Below are the pics from when i last changed the plugs + ccv, unknown mileage on them, but i did 50,000kms with them before changing them as a rough guide....

Can anyone else confirm that the 5-20 oil change has fixed their smoking problem? I'm about to do an oil change and would like to know if this has worked for anyone else. I just don't see why it would. It seems that a lighter oil would leak past seals more, not less.

x2 I would think a 5w-40 or 10w-30 would be much better than 5w-20, 5w-20 is like water for Honda CR-V engines lol

5w20 is too thin, and will smoke more. Either stay with a 5w30 or go to a 5w40 weight oil.

Here's a Youtube video for replacing the membrane pcv at the rear of the intake manifold in less then 15 minutes for BMW owners with a M60 or M62 engine. Not to familiar with the N62 engine so I don't know if this procedure will work for you cars.
