Does anyone know a way to check the speed sensors, and where they connect on the ABS Unit? I have a 2002 X5 3.0 that I have been trying to repair for 2 months. I have seen 2-3 different pinouts for the sensors, and am getting confused. Does the Bosch 5.7 use different pins for different models? Did they change the module during the 2002 model year?

Rick, read this thread and follow the diagnostic procedures listed, including testing the sensors at the module which is shown in this thread. 2002 Should still be Bosch 5.7 if I'm not mistaken.

Cisco read the thread above and get your faults scanned with GT1!

My faults were related to a brake light switch, I have not driven the car much but the trifecta is gone for now. If it comes back I will rescan and see if the brake switch still throws faults and replace it for $24.

If you get codes related to wheel sensors it could be the module going, or a wheel sensor too. Great thread that I linked above, really goes over EVERYTHING about this trifecta of lights. Even if I had to get my module rebuilt at 200 bucks its not that bad, could be much worse.

Yeah I read all that. Hoping for the same outcome as yours or minimal damage to my pockets. I am looking for a member with a GT1, can you recommend someone?

Thanks for the offer Ricky. I haven't scanned the vehicle but the lights are gone after I took out all wheel speed sensors and noticed they were dirty as f*ck. I sprayed the connecting points with electrical cleaning spray and re-installed. I still need a proper diagnose, but the lights are gone off my cluster for now.

That's good to hear!

I am also going to do the same on my car too, I'm about a week out from tearing apart the front to do my wheel bearings and outer CV boots, cleaning the sensors and the bore on the knuckle for the sensors and hoping mine doesn't come back either.

I think my right/rear wheel baring is going on me also. I get that wooshing sound when off the pedal and cruising, sounds like when kids put a plastic cup on the spokes of their bikes tires to make that "woosh, woosh, woosh" sound. What does yours sound like?

like the humming of a WWII bomber plane as soon as I hit 40 mph, and above.

Not to mention the vibrations I get from it too, you literally can see my passenger seat shaking if no one is sitting in it.
