We are talking about a 4.6. Are you saying you know or you think a stock 4.6 will get to 160 with a tune?

What is "waiting in X5 group" meet mean and why is it funny?

Who said the topic is 4.6? When you guys were reffering to the 4.8.

And im assuming the top end on a 4.6 is worse as it has a gear less and diff gearing.

I love going fast but I don't believe it should be done on a public road. So, no, I have never run my 4.6 up to the speeds we are talking about. I have Dinan software that eliminated the speed governor so I could do so if I felt differently than I do.

Until I see proof of a stock 4.8 at 160, I am very skeptical it can be done.

Had to find this, was about 6months ago, before the mods was done...

And this is From today
Stayed on 5th gear not much Power there ehh

The video is an excellent example why high speed runs on public roads should not be attempted- and even worse this is at night.

bcred - you have a nos kit installed as well, and im not sure how the 4.6 goes as ive never driven it. But as of now with what i have done to my car is just a tune i did myself (no bullshit - have vids to prove it) and x pipe exhaust with muffler deletes as well mine moves.

In front is a chipped 335 coupe which took off first. So as you can see its gaining on it at the very end and then had to slow down. So i wouldnt say our sav's cant hang. They surely can.

If you are suggesting I have been talking crap, I have no idea where you are coming from. I have not said anything about the capability of any vehicle I own or know of.

This discussion has been about top speed, hanging with a 335 with a chip is nice but it is not applicable. I have not said anything about what an X5 can beat in in an acceleration run.

Your video is another example of why I don't believe speed runs should be done on public roads. Look at the closing speed, passing on the right and at night?

Ill stick to cars. Lmao

Hey at the end of the day We all Love our X's and dnt care what other people say as we know what our are capable of doing, and what maintenance we have done to the cars. So far i love my X but seals kills it. I should look into that before it gets worst and maybe do more head work since it will apart ..
Anyone can say anything about their X but when it doesn't seem logical I ask questions because I am interested in learning. Recall, I started with asking what mods you had which could have provided the logic for what you posted. That would have been extremely easy to do and would have prevented the rest of this.

4.8s were not governed. Speed limiting is tied to the speed rating of the OE tires.

I like to entertain this kind of topic.
And yes i told you to browse through it, and you see what mods or replacement i have done. I dnt like is to explain while the build is on the thread

Short story will be

Afe intake stage 2 (lol)
Custom exhaust
Dinan then custom Active Autowerkestage 2
Eisenmann exhaust
Custom exhaust from cat back
No cats
Iridium spark plugs

I hope this helps BC & Mr Wong

There are formulas for estimating top speed. One of the factors that is a significant is the frontal area of the vehicle. The X5 has a high frontal area so wind resistance builds up quickly and to go just a few mph faster it takes huge increases in HP/TQ and a great distance to realize the gain.

A top speed discussion should be at least over a measured distance, better yet at the same place on the same day. Just to get a sense of how much horsepower it takes to go fast I am attaching a video of Corvettes at the Texas mile. Since a majority of us know the capabilities of a Corvette and it has such low front area it seems like a good example.

Great info exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I was missing is catless downpipes. Are the catless downpipes custom made or you just had stock ones gutted?
Also what was your baseline dyno before you did all the mods and ran 320whp/363tq?
