@TheDanny: Heads up, 18 and unemployed is kind of like playing with fire when it comes to owning an X.... (unless mom & dad are paying for everything, in which case your golden!)

I've intentionally left my roof rails on because I enjoy the hassle of cleaning the roof with them in place...

But seriously, I like how I can wash the roof by pulling myself up and standing on the rear tires. Can't do that on my F25, which has roof rails to speak of...

Mom & Dad bought the car/insurance. I just have to pay for gas/mods...which is very expensive on both parts haha.

I want to lower my X, and I think I'll go with the H&R kit w/ links, but the ONLY thing I'm scared of.... it not being low enough. I don't wanna sink money into a mod that won't tickle my fancy

I think the detail on the kit tells you how much it lowers it. Check out picture of mine, it has H&R kit

just finished this. Couldn't have been easier. I got the plugs from Lowes, and some paint from the local store.. (duplicolor makes two colors that are pretty close to my silver...one is the VW silver, the other is a generic silver metallic 226 is the color code. My wife picked the VW one which means the other one would have looked better...just a fact of life, whatever she picks, go with the opposite...). I used windshield flowable silicone to seal the plugs. I'm still waiting for it to cure, but the smaller plug seals tight, the bigger ones seem a little loose so hopefully the silicone dries them tight.

had a little residue from removing the rack but some mothers scratch remover took care of that.

The bolts are not easy to get off, the rails to the mounts are threadlocked with red, and the bolts to the body are threadlocked blue. Eat some spinach.

From the back, the car is a dead ringer for a ford edge...

Yes, the plugs are visible, but not too bad.

on to the pictures.

Me too. In fact I use the roof rack to carry our bikes in the winter and a Thule cargo box in the winter for our skis. What the use of buying a Sport Activity Vehicle if you don't use it to haul your sport activities equipment. It is also used to haul a jet boat and jet ski.

Dudes... I was looking for this write-up and could not find it... i was looking for the PDF for those auxiliary roof lights, that i thought, i had uploaded, and could not find it neither.. i am getting old... can somebody, help me across the street... errr... i mean, point me to the write up for the roof rack, and/or the roof lights? i can't find the factory PDF and it is killing me...

this is not for the removal of the roof rack, i still like it - i have something else in mind and wanted to read up on documents before actually tearing up into the car...
