X 5 radio replacment

My older system doesn't have Bluetooth or I pod capabilities . I'm Looking at the XTRONS 7'' system on line. claims to have all the bells and whistles including wiring harnesses etc. Anyone installed this ? I have a quote from local stereo shop to do the install. Thoughts ??

I have the standard small screen Nav system radio with rear six disc cd changer. My truck is a 2000 so NO Ipod/bluetooth. It works good but missing some nice features. Im not real sure if I posted links correctly kinda new at this. Thanks for your time and advice.

Those Chinese unit is hit or miss. Remember that you'd likely have no support after purchase. They do look decent.

looks like an Eonon unit.

I personally would stay clear, but each to their own.

My radio installer recomend a $1200 alpine unit. Ouch !!! but he also said he would stand behind the Xtrons unit for 2 years . I will take a look at Eonon unit.. My computer display also presently shows up on my screen, mileage , outside temp, speed, etc. I assume this data comes from another source and will still be displayed on dash cluster if i replace the factory radio ?

Dynavin is the one that I considered for my old X5. At least you would have support after-sale from a US distributor. Also it's been on the market longer, so most, if not all of the bugs had been work out.

Eonon are generally poor. You don't need a 1200usd unit. You can get a double din unit for far less and still feature packed. This is what I did.

Also all the data you see on your steering dash is fed from the mid unit. You will want to keep this, you can reroute this to your glove box and this will allow you to retain you obc features

you will lose some of the functions, as those OBD functions are probably not deciphered by the replacement unit. and there is no MID in this setup, the OP has 4:3 display, so there is nothing to relocate (unless he wants to relocate the whole thing).

This unit looks good - but performance-wise, you need to check if the unit is returnable or not, if there is a REAL support for the item. You say that the installer will support it for 2 years - to what extend? if the thing is constantly out of whack, will he trade you up? those chinese things have very impressive initial appeal, very rich in features but they seriously lack Research and Development that bigger companies put in their products, and as a result, those chinese things work good for a month or two, and then crap out...

still, i would not go for a $1200 unit either... read up on the installs that other members have here, don't go for the cheapest or the most expensive unit, find yourself a good balance...

Thanks.. I have looked at the 3 mentioned. Dynavin,Eonon, and Xtrons. They all look the same with a different name. Of all the units Xtrons is the most $ and the one my installer supports. And since there all plug and play harnesses I will keep my old stuff and if things start acting up I have a plan B. Thanks to all for the advice.
