My 02 is doing this exact same thing but only when the tranny gets heated up. If I make the turns slow and give it time to shift I don't get the BANG/JOLT but would love to know what it takes to get yours working. My transmission is only 3 years old and about 70,000 miles. Guess they don't make them to last.

yes, my tranny at 75k and doing this ,very disappointing !
this is my 3rd x5,i mean all my wife, she drives them! i do have a truck, but i love the power in the 4.6, i still have to buy some stuff first ,like tranny oil, filter, and that sensor if that maybe the problem, but who knows, that will happen next week ,as will go for few days out. hopefully will fix if not may have to go deeper in the tranny. @smwmustang, have you done anything with yours? thanks

Not yet, I parked it for a while and then started driving it again and nothing happened for a few more weeks. Finally figured out that if I drive it like a grandma it does not slip. I only have to drive a few miles a day and have not taken it to the indy yet.
If I turn slow and don't try to gun it in the turn it drives fine and i can go days without ever having an issue. It is only when I don't let it shift all the way into gear that it messes up. Sure seems more like the clutch plate or convertor to me but the convertor was changed when the tranny was as well. My mustangs sure are easier to work on! SHawn

yes, it could be anything wrong at this point, i have to change few basics ,before going deeper into the tranny.
and , i am the same too , i let the rpm go down and then easy go,and it does not doing the jolt ,but if you force it it does. anyway, will post here updates whenever i get into the x5 to do some work on it.
