Removing spray paint from hood grills

I spray painted my hood vents and hood grills using Dupli-Color Silver and gave it about 2 to 3 coats about a month ago. Over the past week driving through heavy rain I noticed the paint chipping off both from the grills and the vents. So I wanted to know what would be the best way to remove the paint as I want to go back to the original black color. I got some fine sand paper but looks like it's going to require quite a bit of elbow grease and also might scratch the grills.
Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated.

EDIT: Attached image of the embarrassing paint job.

Was going to get paint thinner but was told/read that thinners will eat plastic. Is that true?

Be sure anything you use will not damage the plastic. When I need to strip paint the first thing I try is lacquer thinner because it is fast and easy. I test it first to see if it will eat the base material. Most of the time there is no problem.

You should have used an etching primer like Bulldog Bite B4 the finish coat.

Thanks for your replies. I will try using a thinner in a small area and see how it works out.

Since the paint is peeling already, try using a heat gun to loosen the rest!
If it doesnt work you need to sand the grills down to bare plastic (takes time but it will be worth it ).Start with 220 dry sand paper and finish with 400.Then to rermove all sand paper scratches, use wet sand paper, starting with 320 and finish with 1200!
You may be lucky and it may all peel off with heat gun! After you removed all the paint,do as TiagX5 correctly said, use a plastic primer before applying any paint!
