Passenger door dead!
Is it more likely its the connection at the door itself? Or could it be GM? It is also still throwing false "check rear lights" and "check brake light" warnings occasionally. Sometimes it does it at startup without even turning on any lights or stepping on the brake pedal. I used to have false "door open" warnings when driving too. But I haven't seen one since the passenger door went dead. Ideas? |

The only thing you can do is pull the door apart and check all the connections. Also, check fuses.
As for the light warnings, pull out the bulb holders on your rear lights and check for corrosion. If they are corroded use a pencil eraser to rub off the corrosion, then reinstall and your warnings should be gone. |

Are there door specific fuses?

I'm not sure, all the fuse functions are listed right on the door for the fuse compartment. Just take a quick look.

In all honesty it sounds like you either pinched/shorted a wire or a few, or a connector came off. The door panel isn't hard to remove and I'm guessing that would solve your problem once you start looking around. How is the window molding? I've seen a car where water getting inside the door corroded all the door electronics.

Yeah I've had other door panels off to enjoy an afternoon of regulator and motor repairs.
It just seemed strange that all three electric things went wonky at once. |

It is a damaged wire in the rubber conduit in the hinge of the door. Probably the main power wire. It is a higher gauge than the others.

That's german electronics for you. It's crazy how many things are wired in parallel. I had both my brake lights go out once, because there was corrosion on only one of the bulb holders. Cleaned the corrosion off the driver's side brake bulb holder and both brake lights started working again.

Yeah, I had an E36 that had the same taillight problem as yours Brandon... Good times.
I was born in Joliet BTW.... Don't remember it. But I've always meant to go back and check it out. I'm with seth. Simply because of his pic! lol |
