I'm not encountering any issues yet. As I said earlier, I cracked the sensor when I taking off the valve covers. To me it doesn't appear any damage was done to the circutry of the sensor, but I was looking for other people's opinion on the matter.

Here let me fix this for you.
![]() I would get some type of glue and try to at least glue it back together, maybe use some silicone sealant to seal the crack to prevent dirt and water from entering the sensor.

do it once, and do it right. REPLACE IT.
its an extra $300 YES but whats it worth to you if you have to go into the engin again in the future to replace it, and imagine if the vehicle leaves you stranded somewhere... whats the $300 worth then? if you're already ove the budget, another $300 will not destroy you. and you'll have great peace of mind knowing its fixed right the first time and keep you aware to be careful when wrenching on any vehicle. Plastic is cheap and must be handled with care, especially when in the engine bay.

I do not think dirt and water would enter the sensor, the sensor it attached to the camshaft, and the only part that is exposed is the very top which has no damage. I think it would still be a good idea to seal it up though so oil does not get in. Although I wonder if that would even be an issue, because the plastic doesn't really look hollow, it just looks like solid plastic. I really think that the sensor is going to be ok, as long as I repair the broken plastic. If it were to break further, it would probably break the delicate circuitry in the sensor, but at this point I think the circuitry is fine.
